Dozens of flights have been canceled by airlines operating routes between Brazil and Argentina due to the general strike called by Argentine workers. Airlines cancel flights to and from Argentina this Thursday. The general strike against labor reforms led companies operating routes between Brazilian and Argentinian airports to cancel flights scheduled for today.

Aerolíneas Argentinas cancels 255 flights across its entire network. The suspended flights include 21 routes to and from Brazil. In total, 20,000 passengers are affected on 216 domestic flights, 25 regional flights, and 17 long-haul international flights. According to the newspaper La Nación, the cancellations will cause an estimated economic impact of US$3 million (equivalent to R$15.6 million).

Gol Linhas Aéreas has cancelled flights to Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza and Rosario scheduled for today. The company informs customers that it has opened the possibility of rescheduling free of charge to other dates or a full refund. Latam highlights that flights will have schedule or date changes. The company recommends that passengers check the status of their flights online before heading to the airport. Flybondi has already moved operations to another airport . The low-cost carrier announced that “all operations to/from Aeroparque (in Buenos Aires) will be transferred to Ezeiza airport.” However, the company asked customers to check the status of their flights on the Flybondi website. “If your flight has been canceled or changed by more than 4 hours from the original time, you can manage the date change yourself, at no additional cost, in My Bookings,” the company said in a statement on social media. Flybondi has flights to four Brazilian cities (Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Maceió, and Florianópolis).

Unions protest against labor reform. The CGT (General Confederation of Labor), Argentina’s main labor union, has called for a general strike today, the day the Chamber of Deputies debates President Javier Milei’s labor reform, already approved by the Senate. The text reduces severance pay, allows payments in kind (goods or services), extends the workday to 12 hours, and limits the right to strike, among other provisions.
